Impact Wrestling 2/16/12 Results
Opening Segment: Bobby Roode comes out to address the audience. He cuts your typical heel promo about how he defied all the odds at the PPV to still retain his World Heavyweight Championship. Eventually Sting comes out to confront him, he tells Roode that Jeff Hardy got cheated last night and will get one more opportunity at the title tonight. Sting books Roode vs. Hardy in a no disqualification match and that match starts after the commercial break.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match: Bobby Roode (c) defeated Jeff Hardy via pinfall to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship thanks to Kurt Angle who interfered in the match attacking Hardy.
Backstage Segment: There’s a backstage segment with Roode celebrating his victory Sting cuts his celebration short telling Roode he’s not done with him. He informs Roode he’ll be defending the title again very soon, Sting has plenty of guys who have a score to settle with Roode apparently.
Backstage Segment: Eric Young is seen backstage with a guitar when questioned about it Young informs everyone that apparently he didn’t see O.D.B. for Valentine’s Day and hasn’t spoken to her since before then. He’s got something special planned tonight to win back O.D.B.
Backstage Segment: Sting is seen talking to James Storm and Bully Ray, he sets up a #1 Contender’s Match for later tonight between the two.
X-Division Tag Match: Austin Aries/Zima Ion defeated Shannon Moore/Alex Shelly
Backstage Segment: Madison Rayne & Gail Kim are seen talking to each other backstage. Madison Rayne reassures her that she has nothing to worry about tonight during the #1 Contender Knockout Battle Royale.
Knockouts #1 Contenders Battle Royale: Madison Rayne outlasted or should we say out weaseled 9 other Knockouts to become the #1 contender for the Knockouts Championship. After the match you could see Gail Kim was not visibly happy about this result.
Backstage Segment: You see Gunner & Ric Flair heading to the ring apparently they’re coming out to address the events that occurred at the PPV.
Video Segment: Shows the events of what happened at the PPV to Garrett Bischoff
Promo: Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, Gunner, and a returning Chelsea head to the ring. Eric cuts a promo on Garrett acknowledging he isn’t here tonight. They celebrate Gunner’s win in the ring for a couple of minutes. Overall a pointless promo the time could have been used better. Good to see Chelsea back in TNA I thought she was done with the company?
Backstage Segment: Eric Young confronts O.D.B. backstage and apologizes to O.D.B. about Valentine’s Day. Ask her to sit down while he begins to play the guitar and sing her a song. O.D.B. is impressed by the song and it seems like the two are back together again.
Backstage Segment: Featuring Magnus and Joe, they plug their rematch against Crimson and Matt Morgan next week.
#1 Contenders Match: Cowboy James Storm defeated Bully Ray to become the #1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. After the match Bully Ray assaults James Storm but New York Giant player Brandon Jacobs makes the save and gets in Bully Ray’s face. Bully Ray spits beer in Jacobs face, Jacobs shoves Bully Ray to the mat. Security/Agents come out to separate the two.
Backstage Segment: With James Storm & Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs cuts a promo on Bully Ray with James Storm backing him up. Brandon Jacobs claims that payback will be coming to Bully Ray next week.
Closing Segment: Sting calls out Bobby Roode who eventually makes his way to the ring. Sting announces at Lockdown in a Steel Cage match it’ll be James Storm vs. Bobby Roode. Roode hits Sting with a low blow then kicks him in the gut, starts to stomp away at Sting. Just as Sting is getting to his feet he hits him over the head with the TNA World Heavyweight Title, Roode jumps on Sting and lands several punches to the head. He yells at an unconscious Sting to mind his business and the program ends there.
