Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to attend this year’s Sakura Matsuri. For those out there who have no clue, what the Sakura Matsuri is, it’s an annual Japanese festival which celebrates the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in NYC. This year actually was the 30th year that this festival has been going on. Originally when this festival started it mostly dealt with the traditional Japanese cultural events such as Japanese tea ceremonies, origami, and even karate demonstrations.

When will something beat the original?
While I’ll admit I had my doubts about mainstream titles such as Full Metal Alchemist, I had not ignored the fact that it had become mainstream for a reason. That reason became even more clear to me after I finished watching the original anime series this afternoon. Now I say this as the number one fan of Cowboy Bebop, FMA was the best written anime series I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing.
